This is an area where we sometimes battle. Our children come to school without their equipment too often and can’t do what is expected of them.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT WE DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR CHILDREN WITH ANY STATIONERY. It is your responsibility to see to it that your child has the correct equipment at school EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. The school will supply you with the list of necessary items per grade. Please keep it in a safe place and start purchasing the items early to avoid the last minute rush. Many of these items could make fun stocking fillers at Christmas time. You must also understand that most of these are what we call consumable stock which means that they will have to be replaced periodically.
You may find cheaper items but these have proven to be inferior and your child will battle to use them. Please make a point of asking your child if they need anything and replenish any items as necessary.
Please mark all the items so they do not get “lost”. All stationery will be sent home at the end of each Term to be checked and replaced if necessary. It is important to make your child aware of the need to be responsible about looking after their own possessions.
Please do not send your child to school on day 1 with all their equipment still wrapped in the store packaging. It becomes problematic if the teacher has to help each child to get their equipment open.
Open each item, mark it with their name and surname and pack it into a pencil bag from the 1st day of school.
Every child must come to school with a packed pencil case on Day 1. We also request that you purchase an extra set of stationery for home and aftercare use, as the school space case remains at school during the Term.
In order that every child is given the same opportunities to learn, we have put together a book pack that your child will need for the year. A First Word Book, a Kenton book bag, a chair bag, a bean bag, a small whiteboard and a school cap will be included. The cost of this pack will be taken out of the fee you pay on enrolment. Your child will only receive this equipment as and when it is needed. You will be issued with a receipt on payment of this amount.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL CLOTHING, INCLUDING SHOES, SOCKS, AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME AND SURNAME.
We are not responsible for looking after or finding lost property and children must be taught right from the word go that they are responsible for their own belongings. There is a lost property basket in the office and learners can collect lost items.
With the cost of living as high as it is, we find it unbelievable that children simply lose their clothes and these are replaced without even an attempt being made to retrieve them. This sense of responsibility should be taught at an early age and should be taught at home.
