Grade 1 Orientation

Time: 12:30 – 14:30

New learners or those who did not attend will be directed to the hall where Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Shaik will be assisting.

Morning Entry gates for Grade 1,2 and Grade 7

Martha Street, Hall gate.

Grade 5 and 6 – Martha Street, Tennis court gate

Grade 3 and 4 – Prins Albert Street gate

Siblings  may be dropped off at the same gate.

Grade 1 parents may walk their child to their allocated classrooms.  for the first week of school. (You will find out who the teacher is in December, of the previous year, at the Grade 1 Orientation. Please make sure your child is here.)

Parents will help their child unpack and get settled. Photos can be taken to remember this special day.

By 07:45 parents must leave the school premises as school starts at 07h45. If your child is weepy, we recommend you leave as soon as possible, as it does make it worse when parents hang around the child. The teachers and teacher assistants are trained for these situations.

Collection time

Time: 13:30 – Grade 1-3

            14:00 – Grade 4-7

SCHOOL BOOKS:

From time-to-time books may be sent home to be covered. Books must be covered and sent back to school as soon as possible. This is very important as the books are used all the time and learners who do not have their books disrupt the lessons and fall behind. Reading books are the property of the school and must be looked after and re-covered should they be in need of this. All books sent home must be kept in the blue Kenton bag designed specifically for this purpose. Once again, teach your child to become responsible for their own possessions.

DROP OFF AND COLLECTION OF CHILDREN

We are aware that there are times when parking is a problem outside the school and the volume of traffic is extremely high. We appeal to you to please be patient and courteous towards each other.

All that remains then, is for us to thank you for choosing Kenton as your child’s school. We will do all that we can to make sure that you and your child are happy and feel secure. Please remember though, that your responsibility does not stop here – you are the parent, and you are still responsible for the development of your child into a responsible adult. We, at Kenton are here to help you share the load.
